Hi everyone,

I need to fully replace the front zipper on my Real McCoy’s N-1 Deck Jacket (Style MJ22114, khaki).

The original brass zipper has failed and I’ll have my tailor replace the whole thing, so I’m looking for the closest possible period-correct alternative.

From what I understand, this model uses a 1940s-style bell-shaped brass zipper (Talon-style) on cotton tape. I’d like to stay as faithful as possible to the original look and weight.

I’m specifically looking for:

	•	A high-quality bell-shaped / 40s Talon-style brass separating zipper

	•	Preferably cotton tape (not shiny synthetic)

	•	Proper weight for an N-1 (not a lightweight modern zip)

	•	Ideally sourced within Europe

If anyone has experience replacing zippers on McCoy’s N-1s, I’d really appreciate:

	•	Recommended brands (Talon repro, Waldes, Universal, etc.)

	•	EU-based suppliers

	•	Correct size (likely #5 or #7 — I can provide measurements if needed)

I’d like to avoid installing a generic modern YKK unless there’s a historically accurate model that would make sense.

Thanks in advance — I want to do this properly.
