Engine oil pump failing. 2014 2.2 SKYACTIV-D

Car: 2014 Mazda 6 2.2L Diesel SKYACTIC-D, 174k miles

situation:
Started with me getting a "vehicle system inspection required" warning light any time i drove for 10+ miles no warning light on short drives. took it to a garage they scanned it said its a oil pump issue. They first changed the oil pump switch, which made things worse as after that the engine management light turned on, they tried trouble shooting it a couple times but nothing helped. as i drove back home today a "low oil pressure" message came up.

I'm waiting for the garage to price out what it would cost to change the oil pump. so i though id post here ask if anyone has had experiences with the oil pump on these cars and/or this particular engine, how much did it cost to fix and is it even worth doing it? for perspective I'm in the UK and with the car details above the car is worth under £2000 so i feel like it its anywhere near £1000 to fix I'm better off looking for a new car.
