Hey all,

I'm almost finished building a mesocycle builder for Hevy. I used the RP Hypertrophy app for about a year and really enjoyed the structured approach to progression, feedback and adjustment to the cycle as you are in it. But... it's pricey and not a native app.

I started using Hevy a little while ago but missed this structured, science-based approach where I saw results. So, I decided to use Hevy's API and build myself an iOS app that lets me build a structured Meso based on Hevy's exercises, build out the routines, and sync with Hevy. A quick run down on features...

**Mesocycle** **Builder**

* 15+ programme templates (PPL, Upper/Lower, Full Body, Bro Split) filtered by goal and training days
* Choose your goal: hypertrophy, strength, or powerbuilding
* 5 progression types per exercise: volume, load, RPE, double progression, and Wendler 5/3/1
* Auto-calculates starting weights from your Hevy workout history (e1RM estimation)
* Set training weeks (4–8) with optional deload week
* Assign sessions to weekdays

**Equipment-Aware** **Programming**

* Create gym profiles (home gym, commercial gym, etc.)
* Builder auto-swaps exercises you can't do with your equipment (e.g. leg press → barbell squat, cable row → dumbbell row)
* Manual swap option with substitution groups by movement pattern

**Volume** **Analytics**

* Real-time volume dashboard by muscle group with MEV/MAV/MRV bands
* Direct vs. total volume toggle (counts secondary muscle work at 0.5x)
* Colour-coded status: on target, below minimum, approaching ceiling

**7-Point** **Science** **Checks**

Validates your mesocycle before you commit: muscle frequency, volume floor/ceiling, deload planning, RIR ramp, compound anchoring, equipment compatibility

**Hevy** **Integration**

* Syncs your workout history automatically
* Exports your full mesocycle to Hevy as organised routines (folder per meso, routine per session per week)
* Planned vs. actual tracking — see your prescribed sets/reps/weight/RPE next to what you actually did

**Adaptive** **Engine**

* Post-session feedback: session RPE, per-muscle pump/soreness/joint pain, performance trend
* 3-pass adjustment system reacts to your feedback:
* Load: adjusts weight if RPE is off target
* Volume: holds or reduces sets based on recovery
* RPE targets: flattens or steepens the intensity ramp
* 10-signal deload detection — flags when fatigue is accumulating and recommends deload

**Homepage** **Dashboard**

* Active mesocycle progress at a glance
* Next session card with exercise list and "Open in Hevy" button
* Weekly volume breakdown by muscle group
* E1RM trend sparklines for compound lifts (week-over-week)
* Workout frequency chart
* Recent workout history

**Cross-Mesocycle** **Learning**

* Records your personal volume landmarks (when you needed to deload, peak volumes reached)
* Calibrates your MEV/MAV/MRV over time so each meso is better than the last

**Other**

* Fully offline — all data stored locally on device
* kg/lb unit preference
* Debug logs you can email for feedback

What's started out as a quick use-gap for me has escalated as you can see! And, of course, is all based on the syncing with Hevy on an experimental API (which I hope will stick around). I had thought to get this app on the App Store but am unsure of Hevy's commercial API impact (although I have worked carefully around rate limiting per user).

Anyway. Feedback welcome!
