Choosing between lidar mowers: Ecovacs GOAT, Segway Navimow, Mova LiDAX Ultra and NexLawn Vidar. My specific needs make this a tough call...
Hi all!
I've been doing some research on this subreddit and via Google (CES releases) and narrowed it down to these four robot mowers. Before pulling the trigger I wanted to get some input from you guys, because spec sheets only tell part of the story.
I'm coming from an older Husqvarna Automower.
We're now restoring our garden and will have a new lawn in about 4 weeks. This made me decide to look for a new mower as I'm fed up with the cable and a stuck mower now and then.
My situation:
- Flat terrain, no major slopes
- Garden has various flower beds with flush edging, 4 trees, two terraces, a pool and walls of the house running alongside the lawn
My needs:
- Mow ideally 400m² in one single run (not a disaster if this can't be done) 2. Systematic stripe/lane mowing - I really dislike the chaotic random pattern of older robots tbh
- Washable with water, I want to be able to hose it down properly
- Edge cutting along flower beds and terraces, alongside the pool. Ideally the mower rides right up to (or slightly over) the edge so no manual trimming needed
- Edge cutting along house walls / facades. This is critical for me because grass grows right up against the building. I need the mower to get as close as possible to the base of the walls.
- Brand reliability and customer support. I've read some horror stories. I want something that lasts and where the company actually picks up the phone or e-mails back when something goes wrong
What I've found so far:
- Ecovacs GOAT O1200 has the TruEdge trimmer which physically trims at 0mm from walls but I've seen some concerning reports about hardware failures and poor after-sales service. Anyone have long-term experience? How about experience in Europe?
- Segway Navimow i210 seems to be the most reliable of the four with EdgeSense ride-on cutting. Seems to tick most boxes but only 72 min mowing time per charge is 400m² in one go realistic?
- Mova LiDAX Ultra 800, launched only in early 2026 (CES), so basically zero long-term data. UltraTrim gets to within ~5cm of edges. Anyone actually have one?
- NexLawn Vidar 800, a sub-brand of Mova/Dreame, also brand new. NexTrim gets to ~3cm. No reviews I can find yet.
My specific questions:
-
For those with house walls/facades alongside the lawn: the Ecovacs seems to be best at this but worried about the product quality. The Mova/Nexlawn can get close, but I'd still need to trim the edges every now and then.
-
Mova owners, still happy? What has your experience been after a few weeks/months?
-
Am I missing a better option in this price range (€950–€1.300)?
Thanks in advance! I'd really appreciate any real-world input over manufacturer claims!
