I love the trope of junkyards operating as disposal sites for bad guys. What other places are common tropes in films without being the main setting?

The junkyard is such an easy trope for film directors to use and viewers understand it so much that they rarely need any explanation. Need to dispose of a body or crush a car used in a heist? The local junkyard guy will never ask questions.

Thinking about this made me wonder what other places play a similar role in cinema - places that everyone understands, despite rarely being explained or taking a central role.
