Money claim against me for a car accident 2 years ago

So in 2024 I had a minor bump into the rear of a car he pulled out and I didn’t have enough time to react but it only scratched his rear and did no damage to mine , he said he wouldn’t claim through insurance as I’m a young driver and didn’t want both our premiums going up but his wife said they’re notifying the insurance just in case anything goes wrong so I did the same. Fast forward I had to do a statement nothing comes of it for 2 years until this week I get a letter from the courts for a claim for £9600 from the woman for damages and hire car. I rang the man who was driving he’s saying they’ve split up and she trying to get money out of everyone to not to let me go through insurance and that it’s a fraudulent claim as they sold the car and it will make my insurance skyrocket if I do. I don’t know what to do really
