Gas price doubling effective March 4th (Phuket)

Hi all,

Currently in Phuket and on the way back from a tour, was informed by a tour guide that gasoline will go up from 35 bhat/liter to 75 bhat/liter starting tomorrow (March 4th) due to the war in the Middle East.

Any native Phuket resident can confirm this?

If true the following may happen…

- there will be less transportation available (taxi, grabs, tuk tuk) to conserve gas

- the cost of ground transportation will more than quadruple to not only make up for the increase in gas cost but to accommodate the lack of ground transport available.

The tour guide had also mentioned that this will impact all his tour and may lead to cancelations.

Warning all people who are leaving and entering Phuket to factor this in if true.
