The original dress was Silk Dupion but the dress maker couldn’t get any. Dupion is slightly stiffer and textured while still light and flowy. It’s rougher less shiny, more boho style like raw silk. They suggested Taffeta instead but I after thinking for a while I didn’t want a stiffer dress. I chose silk satin as it was the same price as a compromise but is that ruining it?

I spoke to so so many tailors and in an effort to sell me the dress without finding the fabric they all told me conflicting advice, use taffeta, no no don’t use taffeta use Mikado, no no don’t use Mikado use polyester, no no… I have to pay the deposit tomorrow. I decided silk is the best (it’s working out the same price as a poly satin fabric anyway so might as well have pure silk).

Is this going to be terrible? It’s a big investment for me. We’re on a shoe string budget and the one luxury I promised myself was id get myself a nice dress made. Im crazy about dresses but if I get this wrong I’ll really regret not just getting something ASOS and making do.

Im a hourglass shape with large bust. I was obsessed with this A Line dress but after having a couple of snooty boutique assistants being rude and a bit downright scammy to me its made me panic.

Is having this dress made in silk satin a mistake?
