Am I the only one who gets “compilation fatigue”?
I just finished the Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, the Castlevania Dominus Collection, and the LUNAR Remastered Collection back to back.
I’m the type of player who finishes what I start. If I buy it, I’m rolling credits. No hopping around.
But something weird happened.
Even though I technically beat multiple games, it didn’t feel like I finished multiple games. It felt like I spent months inside the same design era same pacing, same structure, same retro philosophy just slightly remixed each time.
By the time I hit the last credits, I wasn’t pumped. I was… relieved.
The games themselves are great. That’s not the issue. I think stacking compilations back to back just made everything blur together. Instead of “I beat three classics,” it felt like one long marathon with no real reset button.
Now I’m craving a standalone game. One world. One arc. One clean emotional payoff.
- Do you space out compilations? I don’t like unfinished games just hanging around.
- Do you jump between games inside a collection? I tend to go in order in the compilation.
- Or am I just weird for trying to 100% one before moving on? I like to get my money’s worth and get the platinum.
Would love to hear how other people approach collections, because I’m wondering if I did this to myself.
