Brown/pink mucousy discharge after ureaplasma + BV + yeast treatment (hormonal IUD)… spotting or recurrence or separate issue?
I’ve had chronic UTI/yeast-type symptoms for over 2 years. About three months ago I was finally diagnosed with ureaplasma and treated it with antibiotics. After treatment I felt better for the first time in a long time.
Then I had sex for the first time after finishing treatment and developed BV. I took antibiotics for that, which led to a yeast infection. I did a 1-day antifungal suppository. Unfortunately, I had to take another round of antibiotics for an unrelated respiratory infection and developed another yeast infection. I took a 3-day anti fungal suppository then. Since then, things have mostly improved — no strong odor, no major itching, no pelvic pain.
However, I’ve had ongoing discharge changes. It started as thick white and creamy, then I had mild awareness/itching for a day or two but it didn’t escalate.
Now I’m having pink/brown/grayish mucousy discharge. It smells sour/metallic but not fishy. No cramping, no heavy bleeding, no strong odor, but there’s A LOT of it.
It’s mucousy and slightly stringy rather than thin or watery, and it comes out in a noticeable amount all at once when I go to the bathroom. It looks kinda like old blood mixed with discharge, which is what made me unsure whether it was just spotting or something infection-related.
I have a hormonal IUD and don’t get any periods, so I don’t really know what my baseline discharge should look like anymore. I’ve had multiple antibiotics and antifungals recently, so I’m wondering if this is just spotting + microbiome recovery, or if this sounds like BV or yeast returning, or a separate issue all together.
Honestly, this has been really emotionally exhausting. The past two years have been a cycle of symptoms, doctor visits, and countless rounds of unsuccessful medications, and it’s hard not to panic every time something changes. I finally felt better after treating ureaplasma, so I know I’m extra anxious about slipping back into another infection cycle. I’d really appreciate hearing if anyone has had something similar and how it turned out.
