I’m sad because I can’t go to a Mashriqi country soon/

Non Arab | General

For my Erasmus, I had an option of either going to Morocco or Egypt. Even though I had already been to Morocco twice, I chose it because I prefer Darija to Egyptian Arabic, because the university on offer in Egyptwas American, and because I don’t like my class and they all chose Egypt. However I still didn’t get to see everything in Morocco I wanted to see, and my host family weren’t very friendly and the other guy staying with me was horrible. I also didn’t like how French was probably spoken more than Arabic since I wanted to learn more Arabic. The university didn’t organize any trips and no one invited me on their group trips whereas the university in Egypt did arrange trips and I feel like there would’ve been more to do in Egypt, despite the things I mentioned. Now whenever I ask my parents to bring me to a Mashriqi country, they say “sometime, but not this year”, since apparently traveling to a Mashriqi country is really expensive?
