I dug through 500+ HubSpot conversations. Here's what users actually complain about.

Been spending way too much time reading HubSpot threads across Reddit, Twitter, and support forums. Wanted to share what keeps coming up and the stuff HubSpot seems to ignore or downplay.

  1. Brittle integrations that break constantly

Teams stitch together HubSpot with other tools and spend months just keeping things from falling apart.

"I see retail teams over-engineer with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Braze and then spend months wiring things together. For mid-size brands, simpler setups with ActiveCampaign outperform bloated stacks, mainly because it's easier to actually ship triggers fast and iterate."

The promise is "seamless integration." The reality is duct tape and praying.

  1. AI agents silently destroying your data

Letting AI touch your CRM without guardrails is apparently terrifying.

"What works for us is having staging properties like ai_suggested_stage instead of directly touching the canonical field. Then we run a quick approval workflow where someone glances at 10-20 records before promoting it."

Nobody talks about this. AI makes changes, duplicates appear, UTM params break, and you don't notice until weeks later when nothing converts.

  1. No way to undo or audit automated changes

Things change. Nobody knows why. Nobody can roll them back.

"The changelog and dry run pieces are huge. Most failures I've debugged came from silent field overwrites that nobody noticed for weeks. One thing I'd add is rate limiting and volume caps, because a bad assumption at scale can still wreck attribution fast."

If you can't see what your automation did, you can't trust it.

  1. Reporting that eats your whole day

Exporting. Formatting. Fixing date ranges. Repeat.

"Manual exports are brutal. You're bouncing between native platforms, downloading different files, fixing date ranges, and grabbing screenshots. And somehow you always end up with a folder full of CSVs called something like report_final_v3_actualfinal.csv. One missed filter or one platform UI change and you're basically starting over."

The actual insight work never starts because you're still fighting spreadsheets at 5pm.

  1. Salesforce orgs that are basically toxic waste dumps

Okay this one's not HubSpot specifically, but relevant if you've ever migrated to HubSpot from Salesforce:

"Duplicate fields nobody uses. Broken automations no one understands. Over-customized objects slowing everything down. Reports no one trusts. Past consultants gone, documentation gone with them."

If you've ever inherited a Salesforce instance, you know the pain.

  1. Bad data gets amplified by automation

Small hygiene issues become huge campaign failures when AI gets involved.

"In 2025/2026, more teams are layering AI on top of brittle CRM fields. That magnifies small hygiene issues into big problems: mis-personalization, bad lead routing, inflated MQLs, broken attribution, and deliverability hits."

Garbage in, garbage out and just 23x faster now.

  1. Nobody knows who owns what anymore

CRM, CDP, ESP—the lines are blurry and teams fight over territory.

"Tools like Voyado, Ometria, Bloomreach don't sit cleanly in the old 'CRM vs CDP vs ESP' buckets, and that causes friction internally around ownership. Marketing vs ecommerce vs CX vs data all fight over who owns what."

Meanwhile, campaigns sit in limbo.

  1. The learning curve is brutal and pricing creeps up

"Brutal learning curve. Pricing ramps up fast with contact count. Overpriced outside pure e-commerce. Free tier is weak. Email editor feels dated."

This one came up a lot. The tool you start with isn't the tool you're stuck with two years later, but migrating is such a headache that most just pay the increase.

The pattern?

HubSpot sells "all-in-one simplicity." But the threads tell a different story:

  • Integrations are fragile
  • AI introduces hidden chaos
  • Reporting still requires manual work
  • Pricing quietly escalates
