My mother is stuck on mtf trans women entering a women’s bathroom.

First of all, I’d like to put it out there that I am not hating on my mother whatsoever, but she genuinely does not realize how wrong she is. We were sitting on the couch together when she had just seen this video that had said something like “It’s funny how mtf trans women fight and protest more to get into the women’s bathroom than ftm trans men.” (BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE THAT WOMAN) we got really into it, and I tried to understand where she was coming from, but she was just so wrong. It sounded SO wrong. And, studies show that that isn’t even true, There are higher rates of harassment for trans women and the policing of their presence, particularly in public, causing them to have to fight harder for safe, and legal access to the correct restroom. It’s horrible what’s happening in this world right now, with all the men in power , but frankly, it seems more like trans women are THE ONES GETTING assaulted in women’s restrooms, not cis women.

I don’t know what to do honestly, my aunt is a trans women, and I’m closer to her and my other aunt than my mother is, which is sad, but true, and I just genuinely feel hurt by my mother because of her words, because of the fact that my own family is subjected to words like this, makes me hurt. I feel like my mother’s heart is trying to be in the right place for women, but it feels utterly awful to hear this from her.
