Simple ATS tips that helped multiple job seekers land more interviews
A lot of job seekers don’t realize how many resumes get filtered out before a human even sees them. I’ve been helping a few candidates recently, and one thing is clear: most rejections happen because the resume isn’t ATS-friendly, not because the person is unqualified.
Here are a few practical fixes that consistently help people get more interviews:
Keep the formatting simple
Avoid Canva templates, tables, icons, and text boxes. They often break when ATS software scans your resume.
Use real keywords from the job description
If the JD mentions “SQL,” “Workflow automation,” or “Client reporting,” those exact terms must appear in your resume.
Focus on impact, not tasks
Instead of listing responsibilities, rewrite bullets to show outcomes:
“Increased qualified leads by 32%” is more effective than “Handled marketing campaigns.”
Use a clear structure
A straightforward format works best:
Summary → Skills → Experience → Projects → Education
Save as PDF unless the company asks for DOCX
Most ATS systems read PDFs perfectly and preserve formatting.
