Is anyone else really disappointed with the direction they decided to go in for Druid this expansion?

Discussion

This expansion, and the last couple of expansions for that matter, is probably the most radical shift I can see in Druid’s design philosophy. There are almost none of the hallmarks of traditional class identity. Those things are ramp, card draw, and big minions. Druid has gotten two ramp cards in the last year, one is temporary and the other in this expansion is conditional. There are no new draw cards in this expansion either, and almost no big payoffs.

Instead, everything mostly seems to be oriented around… stats. Stats are neither an identity nor really a mechanic. They aren’t even really interesting at all. They’re just…stats. It seems very worrying that the design team decided to take away all of Druid’s ramp and uniqueness to have them play stat piles on curve. I do appreciate that historically Druid has also had aggro archetypes and those are fun too, but they usually coexist with other strategies as well.

Druid is my favorite class. I have over 5000 wins with it, and it’s the only one I have all the cards for, so my interest kind of lives and dies with the class. I have a lot of experience with what makes the class interesting and fun, and this expansion seems to have almost none of it. I really hope I’m wrong and some kind of cool and unique archetype gets discovered, otherwise we traded our ramp for piles of stats and that just doesn’t really feel compelling at all for the class moving forward.
