[US] Facebook marketplace scam?
I’m selling a few games on Facebook Marketplace, one of which being Resident Evil 6. The messages from this buyer are seeming suspicious to me, and I’m wondering if I should be concerned.
Here’s the whole message chain:
[21:24 (9:24)] Buyer: “I am interested in the Resident Evil game”
[21:52 (9:52)] Me: “Alright, it is available”
[21:54 (9:54)] Buyer: “I will be off work in a few minutes I can pick it up after I get off work”
[21:56 (9:56)] Buyer: “If that works for you just let me know where to pick up”
[21:58 (9:58)] Me: “Sure. It’s [Address]”
[21:58 (9:58)] Me: “Just lmk when you’re on your way”
My parents were in charge of most of this, and almost all of it was handled by them because it was so late and I’m an 18 year old woman with no experience in this kinda thing. And their kid. At 10:30 my mom went to bed and we decided to call it off, since we weren’t expecting him to take more than around 10 minutes. We sent one more message, but it isn’t marked as seen by him.
[22:40 (10:40)] Me: “My dad says it’s getting too late, if you still want it earlier tomorrow let us know.”
The longer the complete silence on his end lasts, the more paranoid I get. Is this some kind of scam? Should I be worried about it? He never even asked about the price or payment methods, which is usually brought up.
