How does the tax for vehicles work in sri lanka?

Hi there. I know nothing about cars and i always wanted to know how taxes work in sri lanka. I want to know every taxes like import taxes, duties, VATs on certain cars and the infamous engine tax and everything taxed on imported cars and all custom stuff. I want to know how was the tax like in 2011-2013, 2018- february 2020 and now (2025+) and all the tax changes since 2009/2010. Just do a "Explain like im 5" or "tax 101/A-Z" type explanation or a regular comprehensive detailed explanation would do. Thanks (just tell everything i need to know).
