How to approach work crush?

he seems like an overall great person and I'd love to be friends with him but I am so afraid of rejection especially since we work together. I do have a small crush on him but I do not plan on making a move at all unless he tells me he is interested. we have a lot in common and we both agreed we enjoy deep conversations and have the same hobbies. How do I approach him and try to get to know him outside of work?
