Hot take: the ending to Hajime no Ippo Season 1 ep 42 is one of the best episodic endings in anime history.

So I’m rewatching hajime no ippo for the 3rd time and I just came across the episode where Ippo’s mother is sick and he’s on the brink of retirement to take care of the family business, but his mom recovers and he’s able to return to what he loves. The epiphany during his beatdown from Takumura has to be one of the most meaningful and touching moments of the show - and maybe in anime history.
