Companion discount question

I booked a flight, HNL to Vegas with a friend using my HA credit card yearly $100 discount companion code & as it turns out, a work trip popped up on the west coast the same day I am supposed to fly home. I get that it’s frowned upon to skip a flight, but I don’t want to fly 6 hours home to fly 5 hours right back.

Any issue for my companion (tickets are linked to same confirmation #) if I check-in and then just don’t show up to the return flight?
