Chunk won't leave the hallway going between treatment room to blood lab.

After encountering Chunk for the first time I left the east wing to go save. I came back and just can't even access the hallway to try and get to the conference room which I'm assuming is on that side upstairs. He won't leave or even attempt to leave. He just walks down the hall but lingers around and will ultimately turn back.

Am i doing something wrong? Is it bug?
