I felt like I needed to get this off my chest and share it with you all.

Vent & Rant :confess:

Hello all,

I am 28M. Few years ago I left my job move back home to take care of my parents as they were getting old and have aging health issues. My elder brother lives in abroad and someone had to stay with parents. Meanwhile I started a business to support my expenses. We as a family don't have any financial burden so I had the privilege to start a business while I am here also I hated my job.

Last few months has taken a toll on my mental peace. No matter what I do, my parents are never satisfied. Even though they depend on me for almost everything (not financially though). I had to take care of literally everything starting from our home, visiting family functions and manage properties in our hometown. Whenever I give my dad advice, he shuts it down and tells me to just do exactly what he says. But he profoundly listens to my brother who is barely at home once a year. My mother understands me to some extent but my father is stubborn like a rock. According to him, I should node and do everything what he says. No question asked. If I try to explain my point, he gets irritated and tells me to stop arguing and not give useless advice. I stop right there as i don't want to escalate things.

I truly love my parents and I know they have supported me enough. But I feel like I don’t have enough freedom in my own house. I have lots of interests and hobbies. Whatever I do, I have to ask my parents beforehand and listen to their emotional taunts if it does not align to their values. Now the atmosphere at home feels strange. We talk only if there's a need, we don't attend parties or any event, doesn't have any excitement before any festival. Sometimes I ask myself, Did I do wrong moving back home?

Right now, I’m doing everything a son is supposed to do as my duty, without questioning anything and focusing on my career and personal growth. But I have realized something, the tighter you hold sand in your hand, the faster it slips away.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day.

Apologies for any grammatical mistake.
