We’re experimenting with QR-based darts scoring in bars — curious what players & venues think
ey all,
I’m working on a small side project called Bullsy with a few others in Finland. We like darts, and we noticed that in many bars the game itself is fun, but scoring, tracking results or running anything slightly competitive is often… a bit messy.
So we started building a simple, browser-based darts scoring system that works in bars without installing new hardware or forcing anyone to download an app.
What we’re testing
For bars, we’re experimenting with a setup where:
- A QR code is placed next to the dartboard
- Players scan it with their phone
- Scoring opens instantly in the browser
- Results are tied to that specific board / venue
On top of that, the bar can have:
- A venue-specific leaderboard (daily / all-time)
- Casual competition between players who use that board
- Easy-to-run small tournaments or weekly leagues if they want
The idea isn’t to make darts more “serious”, but to:
- Lower the barrier to play
- Make results visible and local to the bar
- Create that “one more game” feeling
Where we are now
- The system is live and already used in some Finnish pubs
- Inter‑pub leagues are running
- Individual player leagues are coming next
- Everything works directly in the browser (phones or tablets)
If you’re curious, here’s the venue overview:

I’d genuinely like feedback
- As a player: would this make darts more fun or more annoying?
- As a bar owner / staff: does this sound useful or unnecessary?
- What feels overkill? What feels missing?
And if anyone (player or venue) wants to see what this could look like in their own bar or environment, I’m happy to mock it up or show a quick demo — just send me a message.
Thanks for reading, and feel free to be brutally honest.
