Are fishing apps like Fishbox actually worth it?

Question

I’ve been seeing more anglers using apps like Fishbox and other subscription-based fishing platforms. I understand the appeal , tracking catches, seeing species trends, checking conditions, etc.

But fishing culture has always been pretty secretive when it comes to good spots. Most people don’t even tell their buddies about their best holes. So it makes me wonder, why would someone post detailed catch locations on an app where anyone can see it?

Are people sharing exact spots, or just general areas? And for those who pay for the subscription, is the data and insight actually useful enough to justify it?

Curious to hear real opinions from people who’ve tried it.
