yeast infections are so fucking annoying
Hi, I'm really sad and frustrated because I'm just a 20-year-old girl who wanted to experiment with sex, and now I'm suffering the consequences. Just warning anyone who read this, theres is a lot of TMI.
So my story is basically this: I met a guy, we started talking, and I decided to have sex with him. I like him; he's a nice guy, but I'm not really looking for a relationship, and I don't think he wants one either. So, our relationship is kind of like friends with benefits, idk. It was my first time, and I was with him about three times. The first two times, he only managed to insert his fingers, and the third time, only the tip went in because it hurt, so I decided to stop (just to be clear, we used protection). The thing is, the day after our last encounter, I started feeling discomfort down there. I thought it was just from what I'd been doing the day before, so I didn't really pay much attention to it. The problem started to get a little worse the next day. I started feeling a lot of itching, and it was very annoying, so I decided to take a fluconazole pill because I already suspected what might happen. It didn't work very well, or at least not in my opinion, so I decided to go to the doctor the next day. I was really uncomfortable when I woke up; it was itchy and started to burn a little. I was super irritated, and I also saw a lot of white discharge around my vagina and urethra, which really started to scare me because it didn't even come off when I showered (just with water). I went to the gynecologist urgently, and she prescribed vaginal suppositories. I was diagnosed with vaginal candidiasis, yeast infection, i was like fck my life, but whatever. I did everything I was supposed to do: I wore comfortable underwear and loose pants, I only washed with water and used a separate towel to dry that area, I slept in my underwear (I even slept naked one night), I drank plenty of water, I didn't have sex, and of course, every night I inserted the vaginal suppositories until I finished them (there were six per night). Now it's been a week since I finished the suppositories and the symptoms have improved. I'm seeing this guy again in a few days, and since the number of days my gynecologist said I could go without sex had already passed, I decided it was a good idea to try being with him again. Today I even shaved, lol. The problem is that yesterday I started noticing traces of discharge at the entrance of my vagina, like the kind you get when you have a yeast infection (I know exactly what it looks like now), but very little. At first, I didn't recognize it as such because I thought it might be remnants of the vaginal suppositories coming out. Like I said, it was very little, so I didn't think much of it. Today, I started noticing a bit more of this thick discharge I mentioned at the entrance of my vagina, and also the whitish, liquid discharge that accompanies it. Besides a bit of discomfort, but at least for now, I thought the discomfort I was feeling was because, as I said, I shaved today and also cut myself a little, so I assumed I'd be a bit sore because of that. But now, thinking about it, I think it really could be that the infection has returned or that it might not have gone away completely. And I've been looking for a lot of information about it because I'm quite paranoid and I panic whenever I feel unwell, and well things aren't looking good. What am I supposed to do now, go to the doctor again? Probably, but I don't understand what I did wrong to make it come back, or if I was just really stressed and it's just happening (because I had a rough few days). I don't want it to become a recurring problem in my life, and I feel like crying because I read about other women's experiences with vaginal infections, and each one is worse than the last. It's incredibly demotivating because I really just wanted to experience something completely normal that everyone does. I have several friends who have already had sex, and none of them have had anything like this happen. I have no one to talk to about my frustration, and everything I read online is incredibly tragic. I really wish I didn't have to deal with this, or that it really wasn't a vaginal infection, but unfortunately, I know it probably is, and all I want to do is cry.
Thinking back on everything I've learned, I think I know where I might have gone wrong. We didn't use protection from beginning to end, only when he tried to penetrate me. He performed oral sex on me and also used saliva as a lubricant. We rubbed against each other a lot, and I had shaved that very same day during our last encounter. Later, I read that you should wait at least three days after shaving before having sex. Just to be clear this are things i did that are not exactly ideal, that sadly i learnt way before, im saying it because it could have happen for any of that, or maybe not even that just stress or anything, because is so annoying that whatever could have fck my ph and made me propense to get this stupid infection, or maybe i just had it on me and it woke up now idek at this point.
Now this are things I'm going to keep in mind from now on, that of course i learnt just by obssesing over this: making sure he washes his hands and teeth thoroughly, using lubricant (NOT saliva), avoiding oral sex if possible, and of course, going to pee and cleaning myself after everything sexual i do.
As is said, I'm leaving this here in case it's helpful to anyone—the dos and don'ts when having sex. I'd like to say I can apply them, but looking at my situation, I'm nowhere near having sex in the near future, or even enjoying it. It makes me feel really bad, lol. I really wanted to enter a new world or whatever.
This is kinda just rant but im just so annoyed, i feel miserable, and the worst is i want to have sex so bad and now it feels like is impossible and i do not want to deal with this shitty thing but i have to and i hate it, and everything i read instead of being helpful feels more demotivated, idk im sensitive now, im the kind of person whos really dramatic so maybe this is really not that deep at all, but well i cant help it im just sad
