Thank you for this sub.
So, I've never had great mouth hygiene. Yeah, it's my fault. A few years ago it came to a head after an accident which required a number of teeth to be removed. My molars were all messed up and couldn't be saved. The last set of molars started hurting and got super sensitive to cold and contact and my dentist said they had to come out, and the bone was too deteriorated and the root was exposed.
They said I needed a partial. I'm disabled (from the same accident that destroyed my mouth) but fortunately, one of the first things I did when I was approved for disability was get dental insurance.
Next week I get a ton of work done. Two extractions, a cleaning, crowns, a root canal, it's a lot. They've already done the mouth scan and measured me for the denture. Still. I was and am very scared.
Will they hurt? Will I really be able to eat? Will I no longer be embarrassed to smile?
I looked at some of the photos here, and everyone looks so happy. It helps.
I was hoping that some people who had pretty bad teeth could maybe reply with some of their success stories? I'm just very apprehensive.
