I’m a new fan of Bridgerton and this is what I observed in some fan spaces
Sorry if a post like this has already been posted, I just want to rant about many (not all) Bridgerton fans in general. There are normal ones that enjoy the show, have opinions and preferences (people who can engage in sensible discourse on why they prefer season X over season X), which I am grateful about and thank you for existing.
There are extreme fans who behave like KPop fans that treat everything as a competition. This is especially what I see on Twitter. They can’t argue soundly and deliberately misunderstand the plot and characters just to fit their narrative on why they hate X couple or season X. I believe at this point some of these extreme fans are wasting their time hate-watching? Bridgerton is not a difficult show to understand; It’s straightforward, the different plots are quite literally overused cliché tropes, it does not require a lot of thinking or analysis to know the characters. And to be frank, the writing is really really simple. It’s honestly quite tiring to see as I just recently started the show and I’ve seen some fans be so rude, unreasonable, and proudly argue their wrong understanding of the show.
EDIT: I am NOT referring to appreciation posts of the actors’ looks. Somehow, one of the top upvoted comments is complaining about too many posts calling Simone Ashley beautiful. I am NOT complaining about something as superficial as that. And Simone Ashley IS drop-dead gorgeous and if anything there aren’t enough posts that appreciate her beauty. This is not a post welcoming racism thanks.
