The difference between "AI automation" hype and actually building something that works

I've been inside AI automation communities for about 3 weeks now, and I'm noticing a huge gap between:

- The hype: "Set it and forget it, passive income!"

- The reality: You need a workflow plan, the right templates, and some troubleshooting

Here's what I've learned actually matters:

  1. Having access to pre-built templates

Don't reinvent the wheel. Use templates that others have already tested and refined. Saves weeks of trial and error.

  1. Understanding your specific workflow

Before you touch any automation, map out:

- What's the manual process right now?

- What takes the most time?

- Where do mistakes happen?

Then automate THAT specific bottleneck.

  1. Someone who actually knows this stuff

The hardest part isn't the tool. It's knowing what to build and how to troubleshoot when it breaks.

I joined AI Profit Boardroom partly because of this — 5 weekly coaching calls where you can ask specific questions about YOUR workflow, not just generic "here's how automation works" stuff.

Real talk: I'm still learning. I'm not claiming I've made $10K or anything. But I'm learning faster because I have templates + coaching + a community asking the same questions.

If that sounds useful: https://tr.ee/AIProfitBoardroom

Genuine question for the community: What automation have you actually built that stuck? (Not the ones you abandoned after day 3?)
