I'm making this post to just praise obelisk and its design, because it really deserves more love (mainly from newer players)

Almost every player, including me, thought obelisk was terrible when we first started playing. I think this is mainly because the idea of switching hands just doesn't at all seem appealing to a new player, and that they might just be scared of resetting it.

I think obelisk is so well designed because it's a high skill joker that requires maintenance. I really like jokers that require a bit more thought and skill to use, and obelisk is just that. It makes you pay attention to how many hands you have played of each type, and I like the decision making when it comes to deciding when to start scaling it. That extra layer of strategy and decision making really enhances the gameplay for me.

Obelisk can become the fastest scaling non-legendary in the entire game if you use it right. I love how it has high potential but takes more effort to reach that potential than most jokers. My favourite time to get obelisk is at the start so I can plan my run around maximising it as much as possible.

Obviously obelisk isn't the best joker in the game or anything. There are some situations, for example if you are really relying on planet scaling on one specific hand in order to win, when obelisk would not be useful. However I think obelisk is a very strong joker overall and should not be underestimated. I hope I've managed to convince at least one person that obelisk is a good and well designed joker, and maybe you'll decide to pick it up sometime.

Thanks for reading!
