My mother is trying to grade my progress in therapy
I (22F) started therapy last year for anxiety. I don’t tell my mom much because she thinks therapy is dramatic.
Yesterday she found the appointment reminder card in my bag. She asked how it’s going and I said slowly but good.
She then asked me to list what I’ve “fixed” so far. When I said it doesn’t work like that she rolled her eyes and said after twelve months I should be cured.
Later that night she handed me a notebook page with categories like Confidence, Gratitude, Obedience. She put little check marks next to what she thinks improved and circled what hasn’t.
I felt like a science project.
When I got upset she said she’s just invested in results and if I can’t handle feedback maybe therapy isn’t helping.
I know it sounds absurd but it really messed with my head.
