Just a few minutes earlier, my brother and I were attacked by a single drone. The Space Dozer, my ship, shot it down automatically, but it still did damage when the remains collided with the base. (If you look carefully, you can see an entire disconnected solar array, our base batteries along with it. Luckily we had recently set up a hydrogen generator.) Then, we saw more drones incoming. I had no idea if I could actually fight them or not, but I decided to take the fight anyways. I rushed in with the ship, and was a little slow on getting the guns at a good angle. While occupied with the first drone, a second one shows up and starts hammering me. I couldn't tell what was happening, and started spinning frantically to see the drone that was shooting me. Eventually I spot it, and get it on my broadside before the cockpit is disabled. It gets shot down, and I chase it to see if I can manually grind it down or something to help. Turns out, I wasn't needed. The gatlings took care of it. I returned to the Space Dozer, and didn't notice the third drone circling as it didn't have a beacon highlighting it. The gatlings however, did notice. And before I knew it, it was fully disabled as well. Three enemy drones down, at the cost of one heavily damaged but intact mining ship.

Damage report:

Of all my 34 thrusters, only two small ones were destroyed, and one more disabled. Batteries, which were buried under two layers of light armor, were largely undamaged. The cockpit as you can tell was put out of commission, but the Survival Kit on board let me craft enough repair parts to restore the cockpit and return to base. One gun was put out of commission, as well as other parts like a drill, some storage, and the connector. After getting everything fixed, I would say that it held up rather well. I still need to replace the missing parts, but it is fully operational without them.

My end review? That was fun! My brother and I will need some time to recover, but I hope to have more space battles in the future. For now, we have an assault cannon turret guarding our base to hopefully shoot down any more raiders. We'll probably also work on producing combat ships/drones for future battles, although the Space Dozer will always be on standby!

I knew all that light armor would come in handy... first space battle won!
