Do you actually understand your own numbers or are we all just pretending

Seeking Advice

Serious question because I feel like an idiot admitting this but here we are. 35 employees, 12 years in commercial cleaning, revenue looks good on paper but I genuinely could not tell you right now what my actual profit margin is per account or how much cash I'll have three months from now or basically anything that matters beyond "did payroll clear."

Like I know the top line number, I know if a client is a pain in the ass or worth keeping, I can tell you which accounts are probably making money and which aren't but if you asked me to actually prove it with real numbers I'd be guessing. My bookkeeper sends me reports every month and honestly half the time I just skim them because I don't really know what I'm looking at, which feels insane to say out loud but here we are.

Been thinking about bringing someone in who actually knows this shit (not just a bookkeeper, like someone who can explain it in a way that doesn't make my eyes glaze over) but then I go back and forth on whether that's just me being lazy or if this is actually something most people need help with and nobody talks about it because we're all supposed to pretend we have it figured out.
