Anyone transition from PC to PM?

I’m currently a PC but for the last 4 months I’ve been doing some project/program managing. The plan was for me to transition to a program manager position but my boss recently left the organization and it seems like that opportunity is not viable anymore. I’ve decided to cut my loses and look for a new role, preferably a PM.

I didn’t find the PM work I was doing too difficult but I am part of a super supportive team and could ask questions whenever they came up. For anyone who has gone from PC to PM was it very difficult? Would you recommend trying a project specialist position first?

I want to add that I’m a very capable person. I’m extremely organized, i take initiative and will research any concepts or problems that arise. I recently got go my LSSGB and am looking to getting the CAPM.
