i got fired
i was a ssv at starbucks and i got fired a couple days ago. I understand that there are consequences to my actions but believe that termination was a bit extreme. i had a clean record after working for over 4 years prior to this incident.
there was a call from “management” saying that money wasn’t paid for a delivery. I didn’t think that we used ups but I didn’t want to be wrong because they said my boss’s job is on the line. they asked me for a picture of a fire extinguisher which I made a ticket for last month, so I thought this was regarding that. one number was used by my “boss” claiming that he broke his phone and another number was acting like he would receive a write up, but would be terminated if I did not do this for them. it was really busy, on a saturday, so this increased my urgency to get this done.
a ssv from a different store in the district was also terminated the day before the scam call for depositing the money to the atm. my DM told my SM to warn all the shifts, but he didn’t. I understand that I should have remembered the training, but the scam was so elaborate that I realized too late. i did not deposit any money but i did remove money from the safe and briefly left the store, which is a policy violation. I returned all the money so the company did not experience any financial loss and i did not gain anything from this. I self reported the incident and contacted my manager as soon as i realized what was happening. I wish i could have realized it earlier so I understand where I was at fault.
i lost my scholarship to asu, which sucks. I’m wondering if I should appeal my termination and wanted some advice. I was supposed to graduate by december 2026, so I’m just considering focusing on school and getting my degree. if I wanted to save money, I would have to wait to be rehired (which they didn’t clarify if I could or could not when I asked), become eligible for asu then continue, and honestly I wouldn’t want to work for my old district anyway. i used to be close to someone who works in corporate so I was debating emailing them or contacting another store I used to work at to see if they are hiring but any thoughts?
