US government is doing nothing for citizens in the Gulf countries who are stuck abroad
I transited through the UAE on a 90 minute layover. We ended up as one of the last flights to land before the airspace was closed, shortly before my second-leg flight was set to begin boarding.
The UAE has been fantastic -- they are covering room and board for impacted travelers, and in my case it's at a very nice resort.
I've called the state department's consular services, and they told me that the US is not providing any assistance to US citizens who are stuck in the impacted areas (warzone).
A weak and feckless position to hold, when they are responsible for the danger that they've put me in. Hard to be a proud American today.
Good luck to everyone. I have a feeling we'll need it.
