Recruiter asked for my availability and then disappeared

A recruiter reached out last week asking for my availability for an interview so I sent over a few time slots the same day. After that it just went completely quiet. I followed up a few days later thinking maybe the message got buried but still nothing. I get that recruiters are busy and things change internally but it always feels a bit strange when someone initiates the process and then disappears halfway through. Makes you wonder if the role was already filled or if priorities just shifted. Is this just a normal part of job searching now?
