What're some of our insecurities as a nation that lead us to over explain or brush things under?
I think we over explain the our raw meat dishes so as not to be labeled savages or cannibals. I generally don't buy the whole "it started when our fathers ate it during the Italian war" argument but it still annoys me when it's used along with "just like Sushi or European tartar" to justify it even for our fellow Africans who seem to be comforted in knowing non-Africans also eat raw meat.
We brush under the 2nd Italian war and following occupation so as not to ruin the independence image....along with it forgotten are the millions who've died, an injustice never acknowledged along with next door cousins who came with the invading force only to accuse us as being "tools of western colonialism" now.
Keep it more light-hearted than me please😄
