Rutgers- PsyD and Masters redirection

I applied to the PsyD at Rutgers–Camden and was not admitted, but they invited me to apply to their MA in Psychological Sciences or Prevention Science without a new application fee.

Has anyone else received this redirect before? Is it common for Rutgers to offer this to PsyD applicants they think could benefit from research training?

I’m trying to understand whether this is a typical pathway or something specific to my application (for context, my advanced statistics grades were not very strong)

Also would the Psychological Sciences MA strengthen my trajectory toward a PsyD?
