Family Business dilemma
I am a 36-year-old married man with two kids, living in a joint family and involved in our family manufacturing business.
I left my job at an MNC bank in 2018 to join my father’s business. We have two factories (one rented and one owned), and we all live together in one house. My younger brother was also involved in the business earlier. Due to family dynamics and misunderstandings, my parents have always been more inclined toward him, and there has been a lot of family politics over the years.
Now my brother is pursuing a job in a different field but is still partially involved in the family business. My father has decided that the factory profits and clients will be divided equally between both of us.
The issue is that I work full-time in the business with my father and depend on this income, while my brother will have a separate salary from his job plus an equal share of the business profits.
This makes me wonder whether it is fair or sustainable for me in the long run.
Should I continue working in the family business under these conditions, or consider returning to corporate life to build my own independent career?
