Need Advice, questionable exclusivity, bring up DTR? 20F, 21M
8 weeks ago I (20F) matched with a former classmate (21M) from last semester on Tinder. From the beginning he said he only dates for long term relationships and “marriage material,” and that faith is important to him in a relationship. He also said he was looking for someone who doesn’t drink or party much. That seemed to align well with me because I don’t drink or smoke and I was upfront about that from the start.
Since matching we’ve gone on about one date per week for the last 8 weeks and he has initiated all of them. We aren’t big texters but we send reels to each other daily and will text occasionally if something funny happens. For the first 6 weeks he would follow up after dates saying he had a good time, and the last couple weeks it’s more like there’s an assumed weekend date that he plans.
On our most recent date he asked if my family knows about him. I said I told them we are dating but not exclusive. He said he told his dad about me and that his dad even told his grandparents. I have also met his closest friend, who said he's "heard a lot abt me".
The confusing part is his Tinder activity. I have my discovery turned off but I can still look at his profile sometimes. This isn’t the first time he’s edited it. Around week 2 he removed his bio and one of his photos. A couple weeks ago he rearranged the order of some photos. Now after our 8th date he deleted another photo and changed his lifestyle preferences from “alcohol: special occasions / cannabis: never” to “alcohol: weekends / cannabis: socially.” I know he sometimes goes to house parties with his friends and earlier on he mentioned he used to do more of that in high school but had changed.
Between the profile updates and the fact we haven’t had a DTR conversation yet, I’m feeling a little confused about where I stand. Is this normal behavior for someone still figuring things out at this stage, or does it sound like he’s keeping his options open while continuing to date me?
