I need help deciding what game to get

Hi, with all the Pokémon stuff I been seeing online it’s been making me want to play it again. Only problem is idk where to start. I have the Nintendo switch and well I’ve heard many different things from the games I see on the switch

I’m hoping someone with similar Pokémon gen experience would help me choose. I started on gen 2 as a kid and played till gen 6. Then kinda lost interest in the beginning of high school.

Any suggestions is appreciated , I just want something familiar and well received by the community. Or should I just wait till winds and waves ?
