Best chance to get into a dental hygiene program?

Hi! I’m a senior in high school who is looking to take my prerequisites in college this year and apply to ewu dental hygiene program next winter. I’m aware I have to score high grades on all prerequisites and I plan on getting my dental assistant license soon and working as one for the next year and during the program. I always hear that dental hygiene programs are very competitive but I want to know what I could do to give myself the best chance of getting in or to make myself stand out.
