What are your favourite essays which focus on analysing the themes and meaning of a specific movie?

As a big gaming fan, there’s an iconic analysis of Metal Gear Solid 2 which is called ‘Driving of the Map.’ It’s broken down into different chapters and as a whole, it deconstructs the subversive nature of the video game. However, I’m an even bigger fan of movies and I’m always in the search of the movie equivalent of that essay. That said, whenever I try to find a movie equivalent, it tends to focus too much on analysing film cuts, cinematography etc. and not enough on the meaning and what the movie is trying to say thematically. Anyone got any recommendations?
