Toddler belly shirts…. Why

Why in the world do toddler girls need to have belly shirts. My wife (33f) and I (34m) bought our daughter (3f) a jean shirt and shorts from effectively the only kids clothes store near us (le targe).

Neither of us like the idea of children wearing revealing clothes for what I feel are obvious reasons. We’ve avoided any belly shirts or short skirts from stores and family members.

That was until yesterday. We were duped into thinking a jean shirt and shorts outfit would be safe especially since we bought the 4T size for her! It’s not that bad right now but if she raises her hands at all her belly is out. Ugh
