I commute to office on an Activa 125… except it has side wheels.

I’m a person with disability, and thanks to Motor Vehicles Act rules that are straight out of the 1960s (and still largely unchanged), this is pretty much what I’m allowed to ride legally. The problem? Those side wheels absolutely *ruin* the ride quality. Even small bumps, stones, or broken patches go straight to my spine. On top of that, the scooter makes this horrible rattling noise everywhere I go—no need to honk, the whole world already knows I’ve arrived lol.

I also own an i20 IVT, which I absolutely love on highways (got it for \~8.3L on-road, long story for another day). But in city traffic, it’s painful. Single-digit fuel economy on bad days, endless stop-go, and watching fuel expenses pile up just hurts. So for now, I’m stuck choosing between a painful scooter ride or an expensive car commute.
This is where I feel **micro EVs** would make *so much sense*—especially in Indian cities. Something small, weather-protected, cheap to run, and easy to drive. Honestly, just being able to reach office in properly ironed clothes and decent hair would already be a win.

I’ve been following a bunch of startups: Vayve Eva, Wings EV Robin (pic attached), PMV EaS‑E and Storm Motors R3

But almost all of them are stuck in this eternal **“pre-booking” phase**. No clear production timelines, no regular updates, no real delivery dates. It’s been years. The only slightly reassuring one is Wings EV Robin, who *claim* deliveries will start mid‑2026. Not a fixed date, but at least something.

MG Comet is probably the closest thing available right now, but honestly, it feels overpriced. At its current pricing, it should’ve been closer to \~5L on-road to really make sense as a city-only micro car.

Given how traffic-choked Indian cities are, micro EVs feel like a perfect use case—especially for daily office runs, elderly folks, PWDs, or second-car buyers. I really wish some of these products actually make it to the road instead of staying forever in concept renders and Auto Expo stalls.

What do you guys think? Is there real demand for micro EVs in India? Would you buy one if a **well-built, safe, affordable** option launches? Or do you the country will always prefer SUVs no matter what?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

**TL;DR:**
Daily commute sucks between a painful side‑wheel scooter (PWD) and a fuel‑guzzling i20 in traffic. Micro EVs feel perfect for Indian cities, but most are stuck in pre‑booking limbo. MG Comet exists but feels overpriced. Would you buy an affordable, well-built micro EV if it launched?

Do micro EVs make sense for India? Especially for daily city commute
