Lost $1.3K on Kalshi because I couldn’t cash out and support has yet to respond

Discussion

I’m posting this because I’m honestly pretty frustrated and I want to see if anyone else has experienced something similar with Kalshi.

Recently I placed a bet on the platform and tried to cash out of my position. The system wouldn’t let me. I first tried from the mobile app, and when that didn’t work I logged into my account on my computer and tried again from desktop. On desktop it looked like the cash-out might have gone through, but when I checked the app later it seemed like the same issue was still there and my funds weren’t properly accounted for.

I immediately contacted Kalshi support and explained everything that happened. The support chat initially said I should hear back within a day, so I figured someone would get back to me fairly quickly.

Over 15 hours later I still hadn’t heard anything, so I sent another message asking for an update because at that point the situation was getting pretty frustrating. What made it worse was that the estimated response time had actually changed from “within a day” to “within 2 days.” I still haven’t received a response.

While all of this was happening, I wasn’t able to exit my position and the market moved against me. Because I couldn’t cash out when I tried to, I ended up losing about $1,300 on the bet.

Another reason this has been bothering me is that earlier I had posted a comment about the market that may have encouraged some people to buy. That could have pushed the market further while I was stuck in a position I was actively trying to exit.

At this point I’m mostly just trying to understand what actually happened. If the cash-out failed, why? And what’s the status of the transaction attempts I made?

If anyone from Kalshi happens to see this, I’d really appreciate someone looking into my support request and responding.

And if anyone else here trades on Kalshi, I’m curious if you’ve had issues with cashing out or slow support responses. Just want to bring some visibility to this because the lack of communication has been pretty disappointing.
