Has the Middle East conflict affected Egypt?

Question — General

Hi all - not sure if this is the right place to post, so please do let me know if there’s a better place!

I’m currently in Athens and due to fly out to Cairo on Saturday, and then from there to Sharm El Sheikh next Tuesday.

From what I’ve seen, Egypt hasn’t been involved in any of the conflict, and it hasn’t been attacked.

I saw that the US has issued an announcement urging its citizens to leave the Middle East, which included Egypt.

However, I haven’t seen anything from the UK government except to use exercise common sense if I’m travelling to the Green Zones.

I was wondering if there’s anyone currently living in / holidaying in Egypt who can give me a sense of what it’s like there at the moment? Is it business as usual (for Ramadan)? Are there any signs of heightened tension? Are people worried? Are flights affected?

I’m currently a little anxious, but everything I see online (apart from that US announcement) seems to indicate that it’s quite unlikely Egypt will be sucked into the conflict, but I’d just like some firsthand account of what it’s like on the ground at the moment.

Thanks in advance!
