To keep or not to keep, that is the question.
My yeeterus day is scheduled for St Patty’s Day. I had my pre-op call yesterday and my surgeon called to follow up on a couple of questions, and I still have two weeks to decide to keep my left of my ovaries should it “look okay”, or just take it all out.
Some background- I’m 42, Childfree by choice; I have endo, have had previous surgeries to remove fibroids and cysts; most recently a lovely 2+ year old hemorrhagic endometrioma has been discovered (only the size of a golf ball, but still painful AF)- shout out to my new Dr/practice as my old one just gaslight me that it was probably just a basic follicular cyst which is weird because I have the Mirena IUD but I digress .
I know taking both will cause early menopause, but there is HRT which sounds like most have success with (she says this would start at my 2 week post op appointment)- keeping the left will also still produce said hormones in the body that are causing the chaos and a possibility of having to go back in at some point; leaving it would mean I most likely won’t need HRT.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation of “to keep or not the keep”? If so, how did you weigh the options and what was the outcome?
