I built for myself messenger study coach, which generates flashcards, sends them on a schedule, evaluates answers, answers questions, suggests new topics . 3 Month later I consider it as a "prod" ready, and hope it will be useful to someone.
Hi,
I have always hated the moment when I realize I forgot something I used to know. And it got even worse recently - especially last year, when I started using LLMs all the time at work. I noticed I was forgetting even the basics and sometimes felt like I was literally becoming dumber.
I tried different study techniques for years, and Anki helped a lot - but I kept hitting the same two problems:
- turning what I learn into good flashcards takes time
- even when I have cards, I still need discipline and time to open the app and review
LLMs made generating cards easier, but I still ran into repeated/generic questions, occasional hallucinations, and the "export/import + remember to study" problem.
So I built what I personally needed and think will be usfeul for busy people: a push-based study coach inside Telegram - microstudy.ai
What it does
- Generates flashcards in seconds (you pick topic + difficulty) It ranks questions by importance, de-duplicates them, and includes checks to minimize hallucinations.
- Sends them on a schedule (micro-sessions that fit between meetings / life)
- Evaluates your answers (text or voice)
- Lets you ask follow-up questions
- Suggests new topics based on your progress / weak areas
- You can download all generated flashcards in Anki format or as HTML
- You can add your own Q/A and then enhance them with AI
Why messenger?
After I started working and then got small kids, I get interrupted multiple times per hour. And the only thing that is always with me is my phone. Whenever I get a message, I usually check it. That’s how I found that push learning works best for me - I can almost always find a 1- 2 minute break and do a micro-session.
Why Telegram?
No strong reason, just I personally think that Telegram is one of the best messengers in terms of UI and developer support.
If people like the project, I will spend time to build similar bots for other messangers too.
Feedback I would love if somebody tries it
- Would an audio-only mode be useful? Right now I support audio answers (optional), but I’m thinking a true "audio-only" mode could be great for people driving. The tricky part is making audio-only control not painful inside Telegram.
- Or any other feedback. I still have a lot of features to implement, but will see, how it goes.
As I didn't share this project with anyone so far, I will grant few additional days and credits to everyone, who will use it next few days, as I will know, they are coming from Reddit.
