Is there anyway the Soviet Union could have been saved?

As we all know , the Soviet Union had collapsed in 1991 with it being officially being dissolved on the 25th of December 1991 as it was the last time when the Soviet flag was hoisted on the Kremlin. While the Soviet Union collapsed at a time when no one expected the Union to collapse the way it did.

While there were a multitude of reasons for the collapse, there is a consensus among historians on certain major reasons ranging from war in Afghanistan, high military expenditures, lack of focus on consumer goods, food shortages, stagnation caused by a command economy, failure of Perestroika and Glasnost ,bureaucratic red tapism and oppression of minorities and etc. Could there have been a chain of events or reasons that leads to the Soviet Union survives to this day.
